Rose Cuir embodies all the hallmarks of Jean-Claude Ellena’s signature style: it is both contrasting and romantic. The fragrance opens with airy notes of rose—pure, elegant, and fresh. Its sparkling floral character gives way to a leathery note. Dry accents of vetiver and cedar lend a certain rigor reminiscent of classic masterpieces, while the interplay of rose and leather celebrates emotional excess and sensuality. A bright note of blackcurrant, along with special extracts of Timut pepper and Bourbon geranium—ingredients crafted exclusively at Jean-Claude’s request—bring freshness and spice to the composition. The richness of the fragrance is amplified by the use of isobutyl quinoline, a now-forgotten component first synthesized in the early 20th century and widely used in the 1950s to create bold leather scents.
