Edward Enninful, born in Ghana in February 1972, is a fashion stylist and editor whose work spans styling, publishing, and creative direction. He moved to London in his teens and was introduced to fashion through his mother’s work as a seamstress.

At sixteen he was discovered by stylist Simon Foxton on a London train and began assisting on photo shoots while finishing school. Two years later, at age eighteen, he was appointed fashion director of i-D magazine, a position he held for over two decades. During that time he developed a strong editorial voice and went on to contribute to Vogue Italia and American Vogue, later becoming style director at W magazine.

In 2017 Enninful was named editor in chief of British Vogue, making him the first Black man to lead a Vogue title. Over his seven-year tenure he reshaped the magazine’s visual and editorial direction, emphasizing representation and expanding its cultural scope. He stepped down in 2024 after publishing a final issue that featured forty prominent figures from across entertainment, fashion, and activism.

Following his departure, Enninful assumed the role of global creative and cultural advisor for Vogue, focusing on international projects across Condé Nast’s network. In 2025 he co-founded EE72, a media and entertainment company, and launched 72 Magazine, a quarterly publication and digital platform produced without advertising. That same year he collaborated with Moncler on the Moncler x EE72 collection, marking his first move into fashion design.

Enninful’s career continues to intersect editorial work, media, and design, reflecting the changing relationship between fashion, culture, and storytelling.
