Kate Phelan is a British fashion stylist and creative consultant based in London. She began her career after studying fashion communications at Central Saint Martins and joined British Vogue in the late 1980s as a fashion assistant. After three years, she became Senior Fashion Editor at Marie Claire before returning to Vogue in 1993 at the invitation of editor Alexandra Shulman.

During her long tenure at British Vogue, Phelan worked closely with leading photographers and played a central role in developing the magazine’s visual language through the 1990s and 2000s. In 2011 she became Creative Director at Topshop, where she oversaw the brand’s styling and imagery until 2017. Even while at Topshop, she continued to contribute to Vogue as Senior Contributing Fashion Editor.

In 2024 Phelan was named Creative Director of Harvey Nichols, the first person to hold that role at the retailer. She is responsible for leading its creative vision and brand campaigns while continuing her work as a stylist and consultant across editorial and commercial projects.
