Born in 1984 in Vladivostok, Russia, Lotta Volkova moved to London as a teenager to study art and design at Central Saint Martins. After graduating, she settled in Paris and began working as a stylist. Her early career included launching her own label, Lotta Skeletrix, known for its mix of punk and street-culture influences that gained attention from concept stores and independent magazines.
Volkova’s transition into styling marked a turning point. She became a close collaborator of Demna, first at Vetements and later at Balenciaga, helping define the visual language of both brands through casting, styling, and creative consulting. Her work played a key role in bringing raw street aesthetics into luxury fashion and making casting itself a form of storytelling.
In recent years, Volkova has continued to work with major fashion houses including Miu Miu, where she collaborates with Miuccia Prada on runway styling and campaigns. She remains active in editorial fashion, contributing to publications such as i-D, System, Dazed, and Double.
Based in Paris, Volkova is regarded as one of the most influential stylists of her generation. Her work often bridges subculture and luxury, bringing an instinctive understanding of how clothes can express personality and attitude. Beyond styling, she serves as a creative consultant, shaping projects that span design, casting, and image direction, reflecting her multifaceted role within the fashion industry today.
