At this year’s Armory Show, Danish eyewear brand Lindberg presented an installation created with Brooklyn-based Japanese artist Yuko Nishikawa. Instead of showing product alone, Lindberg offered parts of its own frames as raw material for sculpture. Nishikawa assembled titanium, acetate, and lenses into mobiles that hang from the ceiling in delicate balance, turning with the air and shifting with the light.

The mobiles use production surplus, pieces set aside during quality control, and give them new purpose as sculptural elements. Hung in clusters, the fragments create a field of color and motion. The lightness of the materials echoes Lindberg’s signature minimal wire frames, while the movement recalls Nishikawa’s ongoing interest in rhythm and spatial balance.

Nishikawa, who is based in Brooklyn, is known for mobiles and installations made from everyday and repurposed materials. Her practice often involves recycled paper, found objects, and handcrafted forms that test how color and weight can shape a space. Her work has been shown internationally and reflects a consistent interest in turning overlooked materials into environments of motion and light.

The installation was paired with Lindberg’s Spring Summer 2025 sunglasses collection, shown nearby to emphasize the link between material innovation and design. This is the brand’s second appearance at The Armory Show, following earlier projects with artists including Feng Chen, Minjeong Guem, and Letha Wilson. Each collaboration underlines Lindberg’s strategy of placing its technical eyewear in conversation with contemporary art.

The Armory Show runs September 5–7 at the Javits Center in New York, with a VIP preview on September 4. Visitors will find Nishikawa’s mobiles suspended in constant motion above the fair floor.
