On August 28 Venice gathers as Diane von Furstenberg honors five women driving change at the 16th DVF Awards.

Diane von Furstenberg returns to Venice with the DVF Awards, set for August 28, marking the 16th edition of her annual honors for women leading real-world change. This year’s honorees are Hanin Ahmed, Christy Turlington Burns, Fany Kuiru Castro, Kim Kardashian, and Giulia Minoli.

Each woman is recognized for focused, on-the-ground work. Ahmed is cited through the Vital Voices Crisis Response Program. Turlington Burns is honored via Every Mother Counts, the nonprofit she founded to improve maternal health. Kuiru Castro is recognized for her advocacy across the Amazon through COICA. Kardashian is cited for criminal justice reform efforts in partnership with the Anti-Recidivism Coalition. Minoli is honored for her leadership with Una Nessuna Centomila in Italy.

Launched in 2010 by von Furstenberg and the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation, the DVF Awards were created to recognize, support, and amplify women improving the lives of other women. Five awards are presented each year, and grants from the foundation back the honorees’ organizations. Over the years, recipients have come from more than thirty countries, spanning issues from climate action to anti-violence.
Venice has become the ceremony’s stage in recent years, a fitting backdrop for von Furstenberg’s annual gathering of fashion, culture, and advocacy.
