Ahead of the U.S. Open, Lacoste brings afternoon tea to The Plaza and a customization pop-up to Printemps New York.

New York gets a dose of French tennis this month. Lacoste is setting up at Printemps New York inside One Wall Street, timing its move to the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, which runs August 24 through September 7.
The takeover centers on Icon of Play, a pop-up open August 18 to September 7. Shoppers can personalize select pieces on site. Think embroidered Lacoste x Printemps patches that riff on the brand’s courtside past and the pace of the city. The edit spans women’s dresses, skirts, knits, and jackets, and men’s polo shirts, shorts, and tracksuits. The Lenglen bag, shown during Paris Fashion Week, appears alongside L1212 polos and caps. Prices land between 110 and 550 dollars.

Across town, Le Café Lacoste arrives at The Plaza Hotel’s Palm Court with an afternoon tea that nods to the crocodile’s heritage. Executive chef Muhannad Al Ateem and executive pastry chef Kevin Clemenceau built the menu for the occasion. The service is priced at 145 dollars, runs through September 10, and books on OpenTable.
Lacoste is also taking it to the courts. A Central Park clinic on August 22 marks 15 years of work between the Lacoste Foundation and the City Parks Foundation, leading into a private ambassador event to close the run. Player names are still under wraps.
The brand’s New York footprint has been growing. A Fifth Avenue flagship opened earlier this year. Creative director Pelagia Kolotouros made her first Met Gala appearance with ambassador Venus Williams. In Miami, Lacoste celebrated a decade as leading sponsor of the tournament.
